Elon Musk Sounds Off on ‘Disgusting’ Trump-Supported Spending Bill

In a shocking turn of events, tech mogul and former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief Elon Musk has issued a scathing rebuke of the GOP’s spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.”

Musk, who served as President Donald Trump’s advisor as head of DOGE, did not hold back when criticizing the one “Big Beautiful Bill,” as some Republicans are referring to it.

The tech mogul revealed his thoughts on the spending bill in a blistering social media post on X.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” he said.

“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” he added.

“”It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt,” Musk went on.

As NBC News pointed out, Musk left his post as DOGE chief at the White House last week since his term as a “special government employee” expired.

NBC News pointed out that Musk’s criticism of the bill stems from estimates conducted by budget experts who predict that the GOP-led legislation could add up to $2.5 trillion to the U.S. debt.

In a statement to CBS News, Musk signaled his disappointment with the legislation, labeling it as a “massive spending bill” that “undermines” the strenuous work that DOGE has carried out.

Musk’s opposition to the bill comes as the White House works overtime to secure $9.4 billion in cuts proposed by DOGE, per NBC News.

When asked to comment on Musk’s remarks, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt pointed out that the president’s position on the bill has not changed.

“Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion. This is one big beautiful bill, and he’s sticking to it,” Leavitt said.

Musk’s comments on X were met largely with approval from various conservative commentators, who rebuked the Republican Party over the bill.

“Republicans are all paid off liars that don’t give a DAMN about the people that voted for them,” Hodgetwins wrote.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R) called on the Senate to make the bill “better.”

“The @SenateGOP can remove the pork out of the bill, send it back to the House, and get it to the President’s desk. Trump has already signaled he is open to debate over additional cuts in the Senate, and there is still time for it. IF they’re going to do it, then show us action. CC: @LeaderJohnThune,” Gunther Eagleman said.

On May 22, the House passed the bill by a razor-thin margin: 215-214.

The legislation is now up for debate in the Senate. If passed, it will head to the president’s desk for signature.
