FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino made an appearance on “Hannity” Wednesday, where he issued a stern message to New York Attorney General Letitia James and other “corrupt politicians.”
Show host Sean Hannity asked Bongino during the interview if there were any investigations underway to determine if James and others had destroyed evidence and if these individuals were ever going to be held accountable for their actions.
Bongino kicked off his answer by saying there were methods for determining if evidence had been destroyed. He then stated he couldn’t weigh in specifically about the case with James, explaining he didn’t want to get ahead of the Justice Department’s case.
He then got right down to business, taking on a serious, slightly ominous tone as he addressed corrupt folks within our government, letting them know their time is up.
“I don’t want to comment on that specific case right now for a reason. I don’t want to get ahead of the Department of Justice on that, but I want to say that as you know the FBI obviously has the public corruption portfolio … Yes, if you are a corrupt politician out there, if you are engaged in behavior, you know what you’re doing. We’re going to find it. I promise no one is going to get off,” the deputy director said.
Later on in the program, the topic of conversation switched to the new perils and dangers our nation is facing as technology advances and law enforcement faces new challenges in preventing terrorism.
“The threat picture now for the United States is dramatic,” Bongino said to the host, according to The Hill. “When you get the president’s daily brief every morning like the director and I do for this … you go out of there [and] your blood pressure is through the roof. It’s so many different things.”
Bongino then brought up threats presented by drones, artificial intelligence, China, and our country being infiltrated by foreign actors, among the threats that are his top concern.
“People say, ‘Well, what keeps you up at night?’” Bongino explained. “Well, the answer is, I’d never sleep if I thought about this stuff all the time, but it all keeps me up at night.”
The deputy director and former Fox News pundit revealed he’s working closely with FBI Director Kash Patel to build greater trust in federal law enforcement by enacting reforms.
“Without reform, we’re not going to have anything, because the American people won’t trust us,” he stated.
He then pointed out that he had delivered a talk to a group of graduates at the FBI Academy, located in Quantico, Virginia earlier that day, where he stressed to them the new threats the country faces.
“I said, ‘There’s no one coming to save us — the Marvel Avengers ain’t coming,’” Bongino recounted during the segment. “It is us.”
