Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has found himself in hot water with the American people and likely the Trump administration as well. This is due to video and comments being made by the South Carolina Republican that many say are undermining President Donald Trump’s attempts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine peacefully.
Amidst his visit to Ukraine, Graham has faced allegations that he is sabotaging peace talks. In a video clip shared on X, the senator claims that Congress is ready to take action against Russia, whether President Trump supports it or not.
He then goes on to say that if Russia came to the negotiating table and agreed to a ceasefire, that would prevent America from “playing its cards.”
Former Trump strategist and current host of the War Room podcast, Steve Bannon, issued a response to the Republican senator’s actions in Kyiv, and he did not pull any punches.
According to The Hill, Bannon said that if Graham doesn’t stop traveling overseas and “stirring it up” in Ukraine, he should be arrested. Bannon, clearly frustrated, expressed his strong feelings concerning the drone attack Ukraine carried out against Russia’s strategic bombing fleet. The attack destroyed 40 aircraft that were located deep within Russian territory.
Reports say the drone operation provided Ukrainian troops with a major boost in their morale.
Bannon went on to say the White House needs to come out immediately and condemn the Ukraine drone attack and then take action to tone down Graham’s attempts at diplomacy.
“The White House has to condemn this immediately and pull all support and tell Lindsey Graham to come home or we are going to put you under arrest when you come home. You’re stirring it up,” Bannon continued.
He then accused Graham of working behind the president’s back by having a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last Friday.
“Lindsey Graham’s over there saying, ‘Hey, forget Trump. I got the House and the Senate. We’re going to pass it. You’re going to see something in a couple of days,’” Bannon stated during the program, making a reference to legislation Graham has backed that would slap sanctions on Russia and other nations that buy its products.
“He’s stirring it up over there,” he added.
Graham heaped praise on Ukraine for the drone attack, saying in an X post, “The ever-resourceful Ukraine used creative drone warfare tactics to successfully attack Russian bombers and military assets used to kill Ukrainian citizens and destroy their country.”
