Florida Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a politician who hasn’t been heard from in quite some time, keeping a seemingly low profile on the national stage. That is, until her recent appearance on left-leaning news network CNN.
During the interview, the program host asked a relevant question concerning how American voters currently view her party, which led to an explosive reaction from Wasserman Schultz. The clip of this meltdown is now going viral on social media.
The host asked the Florida Democrat about the public’s perception of the party being “like a deer in headlights.” Rather than addressing the concerns, she went full steam ahead on the host, waving off the question as “ridiculous.” Her reaction shines a spotlight on the difficulty Democrats are having connecting to voters.
Wasserman Schultz’s fiery, defensive posture isn’t anything new. In 2019, Wasserman Schultz appeared on the same network where she said that America “needs a president, not a comic book villain.” She also stirred up controversy with remarks made about the current Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. She referred to the former Democrat as a “Russian asset.”
“She is considered, by most assessments, essentially a Russian asset and would be the most dangerous,” Schultz told the host during the interview. The host then interrupted in order to ask, “Is that what you consider her?”
“Yes. There’s no question. I consider her someone who is likely a Russian asset who, as the DNI, would be responsible for managing our entire intelligence community, holding all of our most significant intelligence information and secrets, and essentially would be a direct line to our enemies,” she concluded.
